As part of its strategic efforts to rejuvenate the agricultural sector, the Yobe State Executive Council, under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni, has approved the reconstitution of the Board of Directors for the Nigerian Food Corporation (NFC).

This move marks a significant milestone in the state’s drive to strengthen food security, promote agro-industrial development, and boost economic sustainability.

Governor Buni has appointed Dr. Babagana Mohammed Adam as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Food Corporation. Dr. Adam brings to the role an extensive track record in agriculture, investment, and institutional leadership. He previously served as the Group Managing Director of Thinklab Group and Fulus Group, as well as Director General of the African Institute of One Health Research Diagnostic, Abuja. He is also the Managing Director of Dederi Investment Limited, a company with strong roots in agro-industrial and infrastructural development.

The Nigerian Food Corporation will now operate under a revitalized board composed of seasoned professionals and institutional representatives with; Dr. Sa’id Alkali Kori – Chairman, Board of Director, Samaila Hassan Yusuf – Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer (COO), Hussaini Zimboh – Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Liman Ali Ibrahim – Non-Executive Director, Dr. Aliyu Isah-Chikaji – Non-Executive Director, Hamza Saidu – Non-Executive Director, Barr. Mohammed Nur Babazau, Esq. – Non-Executive Director

The reconstituted board will oversee and provide strategic direction for six key Corporation under the state’s ownership:

1. Nigerian Food Company Limited
2. Nguru Oil Mills Limited
3. Yobe Flour & Feeds Mills Company Limited
4. Wheat Flour Global Mills Company Limited
5. Yobe State Fertilizer Blending Co. Gujba Ltd
6. Damaturu Modern Abattoir

This reconstitution aligns with Governor Buni’s broader development agenda to transform Yobe State’s economy through agricultural revitalization and food industry restructuring. With a dynamic management team and a strong board in place, the NFC is expected to emerge as a central driver of innovation, job creation, and sustainable food systems within Yobe State and across Nigeria.

Speaking on the appointments, Governor Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Yobe State becomes a leader in agro-industrial growth:
